our second grade program
Art
The Second Grade students have art once a week for 55 minutes. The art curriculum provides students with the opportunity to experience a variety of media throughout the year. Lessons are developed with classroom theme studies in mind as well as covering the elements and principles of design. In conjunction with the second grade’s research workshop focus on Asia and Asian-American communities, Japanese traditional arts are a focus this year. Each lesson is designed to teach new materials and methods and reinforce previously taught skills. Projects are open ended and students are encouraged to experiment and explore.
