Our Kindergarten Program

Our Kindergarten runs from 8:15 a.m. – 3:10 p.m. five days a week. Extended Care is available before school from 7:15 a.m. and after school until 6:00 p.m. Students may also benefit from our community programs to enhance their school experiences.

Building upon our mission of intellectual, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual development, the St. Anne’s School Kindergarten Program continues with curricula influenced by the Reggio Emilia approach and the Project Approach in a classroom setting led by a lead teacher and an assistant teacher.

Students will learn techniques to appropriately manage new situations and transitions; recognize their own feelings and manage them appropriately; develop active listening skills; demonstrate self-direction and independence; recognize the feelings of others and respond appropriately; participate in the group life of the class; learn ways to identify a problem and steps to resolve conflicts constructively; learn and follow classroom guidelines; respect and care for the classroom environment and materials; manage their personal clothing and belongings; and pursue their tasks to completion.

A typical day in Kindergarten begins with outside play, followed by morning meeting. At morning meeting, the children and teachers greet one another and discuss the day’s events, which may include updates and work that needs to be completed on long-term projects. Morning meeting is typically followed by instruction in social studies, language arts, music, physical education, religion, science or Spanish. Our unique buddy classes round out the program. The day ends with a reflective closing circle where children may report or reflect upon the day’s learning.
