Letter from the Board of Trustees

Dear St. Anne’s School Families and Friends,

It is with great pride and pleasure that the Board of Trustees welcomes Lisa Nagel as our next Head of School. Lisa received unanimous and enthusiastic support from the Board of Trustees in her appointment, transitioning from her role as Associate Head of School throughout the winter and spring and formally assuming the role of Head of School on June 18, 2012.

Upon the retirement of our founding Head of School, Fran Lukens, the Board of Trustees recognized that finding the right leader would be critical to our success as we entered our third decade. Lisa’s academic expertise, breadth of experience in teaching and administration, and collaborative and charismatic leadership style combined with her deep understanding and passion for the mission and values at St. Anne’s School clearly identified her as the ideal person for the position. We were grateful and proud to have such a highly-qualified, committed candidate within our own community.

Lisa brings a wealth of institutional knowledge to her position as well as her energetic leadership style. Lisa began her tenure in 1998 as the Head of Early Childhood and Lower School Divisions. In 2008, Lisa was appointed to Associate Head of School for Curriculum and Professional Development and continued to lead our team of expert faculty.

In 1988, Lisa began her career as a teacher at the Laurel School in her home state of Ohio. She then trained as a mediator and served as an education specialist with a state mental health agency, consulting and presenting in the areas of conflict resolution and social education at more than 100 schools. Lisa served as co-creator and editor of Contemporary Women’s Issues, a preeminent library database used for accessing information on human rights issues faced by women and children globally. She has contributed to research on the development of internet communities among educators, supported by Stanford Research International. Lisa holds a B.A. in religion from Oberlin College and an M.Ed. in educational administration from John Carroll University.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, please join me in welcoming Lisa Nagel to her position as Head of School. We look forward to celebrating Lisa’s accomplishments, as well as our 20th anniversary, during the 2012-2013 school year.
