Our Past, Our Future
In 1992, a small group of dedicated parents and faculty had a dream – to grow a gem of a preschool into an outstanding lower and middle school. They envisioned a school modeled after the finest Episcopal schools in the country - one that demonstrates the transformational effect a school can have on students by combining exceptional academics with a meaningful moral and spiritual education.
Within four years, in September 1996, that dream became a reality. The school’s classes – which began in the basement of St. Anne’s Parish in Annapolis – moved into their new building located on the beautiful Arundel by the Bay Road campus in Annapolis.
Today, St. Anne’s School of Annapolis has grown and matured. We are proud to be a fully certified member of the Association of Independent Maryland Schools (AIMS), one of the strongest school associations in the country. And, we are proud of our distinction as the only independent Episcopal school in the Annapolis area serving Preschool through Eighth Grade students. As a result of initiatives inspired by the AIMS accreditation and the school’s 2000 strategic plan, we improved the strength and excellence of our academic program to levels exceeding most if not all of our peers.
We will continue to fortify our foundation and build upon our successes through our 2007-2011 strategic plan, Compass for the Future. The Strategic Plan focuses on five major initiatives:
- Invest in what is core – people and program
- Build an inclusive and welcoming community
- Communicate the school’s strengths
- Strengthen our foundation – finances and facilities
- Remain visionary
